Like all Nightmaren, NiGHTS was created by Wiseman to carry out his evil plans. To that end, Wiseman cast a spell over his creations to bend them to his will, but somehow, NiGHTS was immune to the dark magic. He rebelled against Wiseman, wreaking havoc on his former master’s plans until he was eventually captured by his former partner, Reala. As punishment, he was imprisoned in an Ideya Palace for one hundred years, but he was freed by Elliot Edwards and Claris Sinclair to continue his battle against Wiseman and his minions.

NiGHTS is a top class aerial acrobat, and many of his air-borne stunts, such as the paraloop and power drill, can be used to do battle with Nightmaren. He is mischievous and something of a prankster, preferring to frolic playfully through the Nightopian skies than knock heads in Nightmare.

He does however have a weakness. He cares for his friends, both Nightopian and human. And this is a weakness that Wiseman continuously exploits.
